After seeing all those beautiful Fairy Gardens and Fairy Houses, I asked my eldest if he would like one? He replied “I don’t want a Fairy one though!!” So I had a think and decided some Toadstool houses with mini Gnomes would be a great alternative! They are extremely easy to put together and you only need a few cheap items to make them.
What you need:
-Different sized ceramic plant pots
-Ceramic Saucers sizes to match the plant pots
-Paint
– outdoor or acrylic paints in your choice of colours. *Optional – Clear lacquer spray
Now… How we made them:
Firstly we painted the plant pots when upside down with white paint.
We used a brush, as I wanted the brush stroke style on them to look a bit old and rustic. Then I painted the saucers, again upside down, with red and once dried we painted on white spots.

To finish them off, once dried, I drew on doors and windows using sharpies.
I laid them out on our garden table and sprayed them with clear lacquer to give them an extra coat of protection against the weather.
I added a few solar fairy lights to the area and our eldest was very pleased!
I hope you enjoy making these as much as we did.
